A tour guide was rescued from a remote waterfall in Kakadu National Park after he fell on rocks and fractured a leg this afternoon.
Some of the man’s group walked from spectacular Jim Jim Falls to an emergency help point radio phone to raise the alarm with park rangers who called Darwin’s CareFlight TIO Rescue Helicopter just before 2 pm.
A flight nurse was winched 35 metres down to assess the man before he was placed in a rescue stretcher and hoisted back up to the helicopter.
The 33-year-old man was treated as he was flown back to Royal Darwin Hospital where he remained in a stable condition on arrival shortly after 5pm.
The tour party was able to walk out from the falls, accompanied by park rangers.
