A primary school aged girl who was injured in an explosion during a science class has been airlifted to hospital in a stable condition.

The Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance shortly after 1pm and landed in the school grounds.

NSW Ambulance paramedics were on scene and treated a number of children for other injuries.
