Community Education Videos to Empower Remote Residents to Save Lives

CareFlight launches a groundbreaking burns treatment video in nine First Nations languages to empower remote Northern Territory communities

CareFlight has launched the first in a series of In-Language Community Education Videos, designed to equip remote Northern Territory communities with lifesaving trauma care skills in the languages they speak every day.

In regions where distance, isolation, and language barriers can make emergencies life-threatening, these videos bridge the gap—giving residents the confidence and knowledge to act when every second counts.

The first video, focused on burns treatment, is now available in nine First Nations languages: Yolngu Matha, Warlpiri, Kriol, Tiwi, Murrinh-Patha, Kunwinjku, Maung, Burarra, and Anindilyakwa.

Developed with First Nations interpreters, community leaders, and support from the National Indigenous Australians Agency, this initiative reflects CareFlight’s commitment to cultural respect, education, and community empowerment.

The burns video is just the beginning of a broader initiative to support remote communities in managing common trauma scenarios.

CareFlight will continue rolling out the rest of the series, covering stemming blood loss, choking, and treating snake bites. Each video will be released in multiple First Nations languages, continuing CareFlight’s commitment to empowering communities with practical, culturally grounded emergency knowledge.
