Join CareFlight Local Champions
– CareFlight’s volunteer program

Would you like to help save lives in your local community?

Do you have time to spare or skills to share, know your local area and like to make new friends?

Volunteer to become a CareFlight Local Champion.

What do CareFlight Local Champions do?

CareFlight Local Champions donate their time and skills to represent CareFlight in their local community. Local Champions are an important part of the CareFlight team, helping to promote CareFlight’s services, raising essential donations and assisting with essential administrative tasks.

You can choose the activities which suit you best or get extra training to try something new:

  • Assist with CareFlight displays at community events
  • Maintain CareFlight donation tins at local businesses
  • Help recruit more local business supporters
  • Help represent CareFlight at local club, society and business group meetings
  • Look after essential office-based administration work (selected areas only)

And choose the time commitment that suits you – from a regular day every week or month to selecting specific events to attend through the year on an ad hoc basis.

How do we support our Local Champions?

You will receive ongoing support including:

  • Initial orientation training – in person and online – suited to your chosen role
  • Ongoing support and contact with CareFlight’s Community Engagement staff
  • A CareFlight Local Champion T-shirt, jacket (after six months) and special photo ID
  • Regular CareFlight newsletters and updates
  • CareFlight volunteer recognition awards

We are committed to providing positive experiences in a caring and safe environment, so all successful applicants will also undertake an in-person interview, reference checks, a Working with Children Check and National Police Check.

What are the benefits of being a CareFlight Local Champion?

Volunteering with CareFlight is lots of fun, you are part of a great team and it’s good for your own health too!

By supporting CareFlight you will be helping save lives in your local area and across Australia – from people injured in serious accidents or suffering life-threatening medical episodes, to patients needing transport to hospital care or training first responders in trauma care skills.

You will also make friends, gain new skills and experience and learn more about your local community, aviation and aeromedicine.

Helping others, giving back to your community and meeting new people are also proven to assist with keeping you healthy and happy.
