Saving lives, speeding recovery and serving the community

CareFlight is an Australian aeromedical charity and flies to the rescue of Australians in need, bringing hospital-level care to their side.

Our highly trained medical crew are on call, each and every day, 24 hours a day – because accidents don’t just happen during business hours. CareFlight’s doctors and nurses fly on helicopters, aeroplanes and jet air ambulances, to destinations throughout Australia and beyond to make a difference when a person’s life hangs in the balance.

We transport and care for more than 8,800 Australians each year.

Craig is just one of many patients who may not be here today if CareFlight wasn’t able to respond.

Disaster struck for Craig with a crash in the remote Top End, where he suffered nine broken ribs, a broken back in six places, collapsed lungs and fractured leg. Two CareFlight crews and three aircraft flew hundreds of kilometres to save Craig’s life.

We also arm emergency first responders with the skills they need to treat trauma patients at the scene of a motor vehicle accident, or other type of emergency. Our MediSim trauma care program helps especially in regional areas where communities need support and it can take some time for professional medical help to arrive. We have trained over 7,000 first responders to treat trauma patients Australia-wide.
