An 11-year-old girl has been airlifted in a serious condition to Westmead Children’s Hospital after she fell out of a boat on the Upper Hawkesbury River this evening.

It’s understood the girl fell out of a small aluminium boat and hit her head. She was unconscious in the water and brought to shore by a boy of a similar age who was in the boat with her.

CareFlight’s rapid response helicopter was called shortly after 5pm and landed close to the scene.

The medical team assessed the patient on scene for head injuries and she has been airlifted in a serious condition to hospital.
