A 13-year-old boy was placed in an induced coma after being struck by a car in Glenhaven this afternoon.

The CareFlight rapid response trauma team were called just after 4pm  and landed eight minutes later at the scene.

The boy had suffered head, chest and leg injuries. CareFlight’s doctor, working with paramedics from NSW Ambulance, placed him in an induced coma at the scene.

The patient was transferred by road ambulance, with CareFlight’s medical crew continuing to provide intensive care treatment, to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, in a critical condition.
