A 14-year-old boy was airlifted from a remote outstation in East Arnhem Land yesterday, in a marathon mission for CareFlight’s Top End Rescue Helicopter crew.

The boy, from a remote outstation between Ramingining and Gapuwiyak, had suffered seizures and urgently required transfer to Royal Darwin Hospital.

Operating the Top End Medical Retrieval Service on behalf of the Northern Territory Government, CareFlight tasked a flight nurse and flight doctor on the CareFlight Top End Rescue Helicopter to the outstation at around lunch time yesterday.

After a 900km round-trip, the boy arrived at RDH in a stable condition late yesterday afternoon.
