CareFlight has airlifted a 44-year-old man to hospital with serious injuries after a four wheel drive vehicle broke loose on Sydney’s Northern Beaches this afternoon.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked to Bilgola Plateau at 12.20pm, landing in a park near the scene.

It’s understood the man had been working with his son on a boat while it was on a trailer attached to a four wheel drive. The vehicle unhooked from the trailer, rolling down the steep driveway and over the man.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and intensive care paramedic treated the man for severe leg lacerations and pelvic injuries.

NSW Ambulance were also on scene assisting the man.

He was airlifted in a serious but stable condition to Royal North Shore Hospital.
