A 70-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital from Mount Victoria, Blue Mountains, after serious bleeding from his head caused him to lose consciousness.

It is understood that the man had undergone surgery on his brain a week prior.

CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked shortly before 2:50pm from the Westmead hangar and landed less than 30 minutes later in Browntown Oval, Mount Victoria, where NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic assessed the patient and worked to stem his bleeding.

The man was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition under ongoing observation from CareFlight’s aeromedical crew.
