A 70-year-old man has fallen eight metres from his roof in Avalon onto concrete and sustained serious chest and pelvis injuries.
It is understood that he was working on his roof when he fell from his ladder.
This tasking to Avalon is CareFlight’s third mission today involving a roof fall, following consecutive missions in Wahroonga and Dundas Valley.
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was first tasked at 2:50pm and landed ten minutes later in a park where NSW Police escorted the clinical team to the scene of the incident.
At the Avalon residence, Fire and Rescue NSW were working with NSW Ambulance paramedics to extricate the man from his home which was up a high slope.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic assessed the patient’s condition and prepared him for flight transfer to hospital.
The patient was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition under ongoing observation from CareFlight’s clinical team.
