An eight-year-old boy has been seriously injured after he was hit by a car outside Neutral Bay Public School.

It is understood that the driver had suffered a seizure before his vehicle collided with the boy, his father and four-year-old sibling while they were crossing the road at a crosswalk.

CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked at 9:09AM and landed in Forsyth Park. NSW Police escorted CareFlight’s aeromedical crew to the scene of the incident where NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment to the patients injured at the scene of the incident.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic conducted roadside surgery on the eight-year-old boy, who had sustained the most serious injuries. The patient suffered from head and chest injuries. He was placed in a medically induced coma and put on a ventilator with a chest tube.

The boy was transported to Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick by road ambulance, with a police escort, in a critical condition accompanied by CareFlight’s doctor and paramedic.
