A 13-year-old male has been taken to hospital in a stable condition after choking earlier this evening at a residential property in Castle Hill.

It is understood the patient was eating a sandwich when the incident occurred.

CareFlight’s rapid response helicopter was tasked at 5.15pm, landing on Castle Hill Showground a short time later.

Police conveyed CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic to the scene, where they assessed and treated the patient.

CareFlight’s medical team continued observation as he was taken via road ambulance to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a stable condition.

Ambulance paramedics also attended and assisted.
