A 36-year-old man has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after the car he was driving collided with a truck on the on a motorway interchange in Eastern Creek this afternoon.

The man’s sedan was merging motorways along an off-ramp when it collided with a truck. He was trapped for a period, with Fire & Rescue crews working to free him.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked to the accident at 3.29pm, landing in a clearing opposite the motorway to drop off the critical care medical team.

Ambulance paramedics were also on scene treating the man.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic treated the man for chest, abdominal and pelvic injuries at the scene.

The medical team continued treating the man as he was taken by road to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition.
