The Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter has responded to multiple missions today, including two taskings to Wyong and Blacktown.

A man, aged in his 20s, has sustained chest injuries after falling from and being trampled by a horse at a racecourse in Wyong.

The Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter was tasked shortly before 9:30am and landed 20 minutes later within the grounds of the racetrack. CareFlight’s clinical team made their way to the scene of the incident where NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic conducted a clinical assessment on the man, which included an ultrasound, and administered pain relief while undertaking spinal precautions.

CareFlight’s medical team provided ongoing observation for the man as he was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.

Shortly after at approximately 12:30pm, the aeromedical helicopter was tasked to a motor vehicle collision between two trucks on Bungarribee Road, Blacktown. A man, aged in his 60s, sustained chest injuries from the impact and was trapped in his vehicle. Emergency services personnel from Fire and Rescue NSW worked to extricate the truck driver.

The Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter landed in a nearby park and the clinical team made their way to the scene of the incident. CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a trauma assessment on the man and conducted an ultrasound to examine his internal injuries.

CareFlight’s medical team provided ongoing treatment for the man as he was taken by road with NSW Ambulance in a stable condition to Westmead Hospital.
