The Mounties CareFlight Rapid Response Helicopter responded to a 3 car MVA on the Princes Highway at Narooma on the South Coast of NSW.
CareFlight were tasked by NSW Ambulance at around 5pm. NSW Ambulance crews transported 2 critical patients to Moruya Hospital and 2 critical patients to South East Regional Hospital (Bega).
The CareFlight medical team met the NSW Ambulance crew at Moruya Hospital and stabilised one of the critical patients. While the CareFlight medical team were stabilising the patient the helicopter flew to Moruya airport to refuel for the return leg. The CareFlight helicopter then returned to Moruya hospital and transported the patient by air to St. George Hospital in a critical condition.
The crew conducted ultrasounds and blood transfusion continuously throughout the flight. The journey from Moruya with the critical patient took just 1 hour 5 minutes. Toll Air Ambulance also responded to Moruya hospital for the second critical patient.
