A 47-year-old woman has been flown to hospital in a stable condition after she crashed while cycling near Berowra Waters this morning.

The woman was riding downhill into Berowra Waters with a group when she fell from her bike, suffering head and upper limb injuries.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked shortly before 9.30am, landing at a car park near the waterfront.

Bystanders seeing the helicopter land immediately offered their support, driving CareFlight’s medical team up the narrow road to the accident scene.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic assisted Ambulance paramedics who were on scene providing initial treatment.

The patient was transferred by road ambulance to the helicopter and then flown to hospital in a stable condition.

CareFlight’s doctor praised the bystanders, including the cycling group, for their actions helping the patient and in support of the emergency services teams.
