CareFlight has accompanied a man aged in his 80s to hospital in a critical condition after an incident involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian at Church Street and Castle Hill Road, West Pennant Hills.

The Mounties Care CareFlight Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance shortly before 10am and landed near the scene. NSW Police and NSW Ambulance were also in attendance.  NSW Ambulance paramedics worked alongside CareFlight’s medical team to treat the patient for severe head injuries. CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedics placed the patient into an induced coma and intubated to provide protective measures against brain injury. Additionally, medication was administered to reduce swelling around the brain.

The CareFlight critical care team and NSW Ambulance conveyed the patient by road to Westmead Hospital for further treatment.
