An injured motor bike rider was airlifted to hospital from Dundee Beach after his Harley Davidson landed on his chest following a spill onto a gravel road today.

The man, aged in his 50s, suffered chest injuries in the crash while on a Sunday ride from Darwin with mates.

Darwin’s CareFlight rescue helicopter landed in the Lodge of Dundee car park to allow the crew doctor and nurse to treat the man.

The injured rider was stabilised then flown to Royal Darwin Hospital where he remained in a stable condition on arrival at 3.30 pm.
