A 20-year-old man has been injured in a fall while visiting a popular but difficult to access rockpool in Sydney’s Royal National Park near Burning Palms Beach this afternoon.
It’s understood the man was with his partner visiting the Figure Eight Pools, located kilometers away from the closest car access point, when he fell on the rocks and found himself in need of assistance.
Surf Life Saving, NSW Ambulance and NSW Fire & Rescue teams worked together to initially treat and carry the man across the difficult terrain and back to Burning Palms Beach.
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked shortly after 3.30pm, landing in a clearing beside the Burning Palms Surf Life Saving Club.
The helicopter team, including CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic, joined the emergency services crews providing medical care for the man and then loading him into the helicopter.
The man was flown to the a carpark above to be transferred into a waiting ambulance. He was taken to hospital by road in a stable condition.
