An 18-year-old man was airlifted to Royal Darwin Hospital last night in a stable condition after he was injured in a single vehicle rollover on the Stuart Highway, 8km north of Hayes Creek.
The man’s car rolled off the road and down a steep embankment before coming to rest about 20 metres away.
CareFlight, operating the Top End Medical Retrieval Service on behalf of the Northern Territory Government, tasked its Top End Rescue Helicopter with a flight nurse and a flight doctor to the scene where it landed on the highway.
Adelaide River Clinic staff, police and fire service personnel also attended the incident.
The man was treated by clinic staff and CareFlight’s medical crew before being taken to RDH at 8.50pm in a stable condition.
CareFlight’s crew praised the clinic and emergency service staff for their excellent response.
