A 60-year-old man was flown to hospital this afternoon after coming to grief on a dirt bike on the Central Coast hinterland.

The injured man took a tumble when the left peg of his bike dug into the ground at a popular dirt bike track near Kulnura.

The CareFlight rapid response helicopter landed nearby and the medical team treated the man for injuries to his left shoulder, chest and ankle.

He was then transferred to the waiting helicopter to be flown to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
