A man aged in his 40s has been airlifted to hospital in a serious but stable condition after his vehicle left the road and struck a tree on Bell’s Line of Road at Bilpin yesterday afternoon.
The Mounties Care CareFlight Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance shortly after 2pm. The man was retrieved from his vehicle by a local off-duty police officer, who directed the CareFlight helicopter to land in his adjacent paddock, where the crews met NSW Ambulance paramedics and NSW Police.
NSW Ambulance paramedics worked alongside CareFlight’s medical team to treat the patient. CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment including ultrasound, and provided pain relief and treatment for injuries to the back and torso. The CareFlight helicopter then flew the patient to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
