A 52-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital after falling from a tree at an orchard tourism venue in the Blue Mountains this afternoon.

The man was knocked unconscious when he fell from 3-4 metres when a branch snapped while he was picking pecan nuts.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked to Mount Irvine shortly before 1pm.

The man regained consciousness after an estimated 10 minutes.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and intensive care paramedic treated him at the scene for injuries to his back and shoulder.

He was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
