A man in his 50s has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after a motorcycle accident on Annangrove Road, Annangrove this afternoon.

The man and his motorcycle went under the roadside crash barrier and down an embankment, before crashing into the metal fence of a local residence. He was knocked unconscious by the accident.

The Mounties Care – CareFlight Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance just after 2:30pm and landed 12 minutes later in the front paddock of a local residence on Annangrove Road, close to the scene of the incident. NSW Police escorted CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic to the site where off-duty paramedics, who lived in an adjacent residence, were providing initial treatment. NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived simultaneously with the CareFlight clinical team and the crews worked together providing treatment for the man.

CareFlight’s clinical team performed a clinical assessment on the man, before the team extricated the man from the fence and transported him to the top of the embankment for further treatment to stabilise him before transport to hospital.

The man was taken by road with a green-lighted police escort in a critical condition with NSW Ambulance under ongoing observation from CareFlight’s clinical team to Westmead Hospital for immediate trauma surgery.
