A 73-year-old man was flown to hospital after he was injured when a car fell on top of him in Collaroy Plateau in Sydney’s Northern Beaches late this afternoon.

The man was working beneath 4WD vehicle at a residence when it fell from its jack stands, crushing him beneath.

CareFlight’s rapid response helicopter was tasked shortly before 5.00pm and landed at Colloroy Oval.

The helicopter circled and crew signalled to a large number of children playing sport below and they quickly cleared the space to allow the team to land. Police were quickly on hand and conveyed CareFlight’s critical care team a short distance to the patient.

At the scene, CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic joined NSW Ambulance paramedics who were providing initial treatment to the man.

The CareFlight critical care team provided further treatment for multiple upper body injuries and fractures.

The man was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
