A 71-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital in a stable condition after he suffered a head injury falling while tree lopping in Blackheath this afternoon.

It’s understood the man fell from between 7 and 12 metres to the ground while cutting branches.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked shortly after 2.00pm, landing at the scene.

Ambulance paramedics and Police Rescue crews also responded.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic provided treatment for the head injury and abrasions. Police and ambulance paramedics assisted the CareFlight crew as spinal precautions were taken while transferring the man to the helicopter.
