A 67-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital in a serious but stable condition after he suffered a head injury falling down a flight of stairs on the Central Coast this afternoon.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked shortly before 4pm, landing in a narrow strip of land along the Hardys Bay foreshore.

The medical crew walked directly across the street into a residence to help NSW Ambulance paramedics who were providing initial care for the man where he had fallen.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic provided further treatment for the man’s head injury. A number of police and ambulance paramedics assisted the CareFlight crew as spinal precautions were taken while transferring the man to the helicopter.

The man was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
