A 22-year-old man suffered chest injuries when he fell onto a reinforced construction rod in north-west Sydney this afternoon.
CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked to Eastwood at 1.21pm. The helicopter was in the air within a few minutes, landing at Eastwood Oval about 1.30pm.
A NSW Police crew immediately picked up CareFlight’s specialist doctor and intensive care paramedic and transferred them to the scene on Blaxland Road. NSW Ambulance paramedics were also attending.
The man had reportedly slipped and fallen while working at height on the building’s construction. As he landed, the rod penetrated his chest below his left armpit.
CareFlight’s medical crew provided treatment at the scene before accompanying the man, with a NSW Road Ambulance crew, by road to Westmead Hospital, in a stable condition.
