A 63-year-old man has been taken to hospital in a critical condition, after he was run over by a truck in Hunters Hill earlier this morning.

It is understood the man was working near the truck when it rolled over him, with the load of wood planks it was carrying also falling on top of him.

CareFlight’s rapid response helicopter was tasked shortly after 9.15am landing at a nearby cricket oval.

The medical team were taken to the scene by Police, arriving minutes later.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic treated the man at the scene for abdominal injuries, providing a blood transfusion to stabilise his condition.

Treatment was continued by CareFlight’s medical team as the patient was transported by road to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.

Ambulance paramedics also attended the scene.
