At around 9am on Friday 3 November, the Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance to a single motor vehicle accident in Cardiff.

The car had left the road and struck a telegraph pole, injuring both driver and passenger, trapping the passenger in the car. The driver was extricated by the NSW Ambulance Hunter Medical Retrieval Service road team and transported to John Hunter Hospital.

The passenger, a man in his 30s, was freed from the wreckage by Fire and Rescue NSW and treated at the scene by CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance paramedics.

The man was then accompanied by the CareFlight specialist doctor by road ambulance to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.
