A 38–year-old man has been taken to hospital in a stable condition after a near drowning incident in Mosman this afternoon.

The man had been swimming at the wharf at Clifton Beach. It’s understood he fell while climbing up the wharf ladder and was unconscious in the water for a period.

CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked shortly after 2.30pm and landed in Clifton Beach Park.

NSW Ambulance paramedics also arrived by road.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic provided  treatment at the scene before the man was carried to a road ambulance.

The CareFlight and NSW Ambulance critical care team provided ongoing treatment as the man was taken by road to Royal North Shore Hospital.
