A 52-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital in a serious but stable condition after he was injured in a high speed boat accident on the Hawkesbury River this afternoon.

The man suffered multiple injuries including fractures to the lower limbs as a result of the accident.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked to Pitt Town shortly before 2pm.

NSW Roads & Maritime Services, SES and NSW Ambulance crews were also on scene assisting the patient.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic treated the man at the scene before he was transferred to the helicopter.

He was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
