A 40-year-old man has been flown to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious condition after sustaining burns following an explosion at a factory in Blacktown today.
CareFlight’s rapid response helicopter was tasked to the factory just after 5.30pm today, landing just minutes later near the scene where they met Police and Ambulance crews already at the scene.
According to witnesses the man sustained burns to about 40 percent of his body after a transformer exploded in a factory on Sunny Holt Road in Blacktown.
CareFlight’s critical care doctor and intensive care paramedic intubated the man at the scene before transferring him the helicopter. The team continued treating the man during the flight to Royal North Shore Hospital.
The man is in a serious but stable condition.
