A 51-year-old man has fallen four metres from the roof of a property in Eastwood and sustained critical head injuries this afternoon.

The tradesman was working on house renovations when he fell from the roof onto the concrete below and lost consciousness.

This is CareFlight’s seventh mission this month involving a man falling from a roof.

CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked at 1:30pm and landed 15 minutes later in a nearby field where NSW Police escorted the clinical team to the scene of the incident.

NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment for the man and CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic assessed the patient’s serious condition. CareFlight’s doctor intubated the patient at the scene and placed him in an induced coma to stabilise him.

The patient was taken by road ambulance to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition under ongoing observation from CareFlight’s clinical team.
