A man suffered multiple severe injuries when he was wedged between his car and a brick wall in the driveway of a house in Punchbowl, in Sydney’s south-west, today.
Police, fire, ambulance and CareFlight were called to Shadforth Street shortly before 10.30am.
The CareFlight trauma doctor teamed with paramedics to stabilise the man as rescue officers worked to free him.
The CareFlight doctor said the man, aged 50, suffered severe head and chest injuries and fractures.
The CareFlight doctor performed emergency surgery and administered blood transfusions as Fire-Rescue officers worked for 40 minutes to free him.
On release the man was placed on a mobile intensive care module, then taken under continuing treatment by the doctor and paramedics, in a road ambulance, to Liverpool Hospital where he remained in a critical condition on arrival.
