A 30-year-old male was crushed and trapped by a concrete support structure weighing several tonnes on a building demolition site in Sydney’s inner west this afternoon.

It’s understood workers were salvaging materials when a 5-6 metre-long concrete window lintel fell, landing on the man’s legs and ankles.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was called to St Peters at about 4pm, landing next to the site of the accident.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and intensive care paramedic provided treatment for pain while NSW Police Rescue crews safely extricated the man.

NSW Ambulance were also on scene.

He was taken by road to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital under the care CareFlight’s doctor in a stable condition.
