CareFlight’s team were thankful to a man at Gunderman this afternoon who, when he saw our helicopter land in his paddock, promptly gave the medical team a lift in his van to the scene of an accident nearby.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic were able to use mobile ultrasound scanners to identify the man had serious fractures to the chest, sustained when crashing off the road.
NSW Ambulance crews also arrived soon after by road and helped provide care for the injured 55-year-old man.
The rapid response helicopter had landed within walking distance of the scene but a lift that saves precious time always makes a significant difference when a person is in need of emergency care.
The man today was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital this afternoon in a stable condition.
