A woman, aged in her 80s, was critically injured when the vehicle she was driving was involved in a two-car motor vehicle accident that injured three people on Moss Vale Road, Moss Vale, earlier this afternoon.

The woman sustained serious chest and abdominal injuries.

The Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter was tasked shortly after 12:00pm and landed 25 minutes later in a nearby paddock where CareFlight’s medical team made their way to the scene of the incident.  A medical team from a NSW Ambulance Rescue helicopter treated the trapped driver of one of the vehicles, who once released and medically stabilised, was flown by them to St George Hospital. NSW Ambulance paramedics transported the third patient to Liverpool Hospital by road ambulance.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic conducted a clinical assessment on the driver of the second vehicle, which an ultrasound, and performed a roadside blood transfusion. The medical team intubated the patient and placed her in an induced coma to stabilise her condition.

CareFlight’s medical team provided ongoing treatment for the woman as she was airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.
