A 26-year-old man was airlifted to hospital in a stable condition after he was injured on a remote station 600km south of Darwin near the Western Australian border yesterday.
The man was injured while mustering on a motorbike when he hit a stump and fell.
Station staff flew him by helicopter to Kalkaringi where he was treated by nurses at the Health clinic.
CareFlight, operating the Top End Medical Retrieval Service on behalf of the Northern Territory Government, tasked a fixed wing aeroplane with doctor and flight nurse aboard shortly after 2pm.
Clinic staff brought the man to meet CareFlight’s aircraft at the Kalkaringi airstrip at 4.30pm.
CareFlight’s medical team provided further treatment to the man for limb injuries.
The man was flown to Darwin and taken to RDH in a stable condition shortly before 7pm.
CareFlight’s medical team praised all the responders for the excellent care they provided the young man.
