CareFlight flew on Sunday to Queenscliff where an adult male swimmer had a near-drowning in the surf off Queenscliff Beach.
The man was pulled unresponsive from the water and initially treated by lifesavers on duty at the beach.
NSW Ambulance paramedics continued providing treatment for the man who returned spontaneous circulation during CPR. The Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance shortly after 12.40pm and landed approximately 15 minutes later in a park adjacent to the beach.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic continued the advanced life-support, stabilising him for transport to hospital.
CareFlight’s medical team continued providing care as the man was taken by road in a critical but stable condition with NSW Ambulance to Royal North Shore Hospital.
