A quad bike crash man was left with head injuries on a Territory cattle station today.
Staff at the station and a neighbouring property combined with CareFlight to get the injured man to hospital in Darwin.
A colleague found the 21-year-old man shortly after he crashed as they drove out to start mustering on the property 200 kilometres east of Katherine.
They applied first aid to the man who suffered head and shoulder injuries, then drove him for 40 minutes to neighbouring Mainoru station where a CareFlight aircraft was able to land on a gravel airstrip.
CareFlight’s flight nurses took over treatment of the man who remained in a stable condition suffering severe concussion.
They flew the man to Royal Darwin Hospital for neurological assessment.
