A man who suffered serious injuries in a quad bike crash near Pine Creek is being treated in Royal Darwin Hospital tonight.

Park rangers found the man near the town, 225km south of Darwin, shortly before 11am today.

The crash left the 32-year-old man with serious chest injuries and multiple fractures.

The rangers alerted the Pine Creek health clinic who sent a nurse to meet the rangers and drive the man to the town’s clinic.

The nurse was then directed to drive the man to Katherine Hospital for initial stabilisation.

CareFlight was alerted to the man’s plight at 2pm and sent a medical team on a King Air turbo-prop aircraft to Katherine to transfer the man under intensive care management to Royal Darwin Hospital.

The man remained in a serious but stable condition on arrival at the hospital at 7.30pm.
