A male dirt bike rider in his 20s has been transported by CareFlight’s rapid response helicopter to hospital this evening in a serious condition after the bike he was riding collided with a fence.
The male rider sustained suspected chest and abdominal injuries as well as injuries to his shoulder when the dirt bike he was riding near Londonderry, hit a fence and he was thrown off his bike.
CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked just before 4pm today, landing on a dirt road about 400 metres away from the crash site where they joined NSW Ambulance, NSW Police and Rural Fire Service crews.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic intubated the rider at the scene to stabilise him before taking the patient aboard the helicopter.
The man was flown to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition.
