A man in his late 60s was airlifted from Batchelor today, after he was injured in a skydiving accident at the biennial skydiving festival known as Rel Week Boogie.
The man suffered from two suspected broken legs and was treated by an off-duty doctor, St John Ambulance paramedics and Batchelor Health Clinic staff at the scene until a CareFlight King Air turbo-prop aircraft landed at Batchelor airstrip at around 12.30pm.
CareFlight, who operates the Top End Medical Retrieval Service on behalf of the Northern Territory Government, praised the efforts of medical staff and first responders on the ground.
The injured man was flown to Royal Darwin Hospital in the care of a CareFlight doctor and flight nurse.
He arrived in Darwin in a stable condition just after 2pm.
