An 18-year-old man was airlifted from Daly Waters to Darwin yesterday, after he sustained a head injury and a suspected broken collar bone in a motorbike crash on a remote cattle station in the Daly Waters region.
It is believed the man was flung off his motorbike and lost consciousness when he hit the ground.
CareFlight, who operates the Top End Medical Retrieval Service on behalf of the Northern Territory Government, tasked a King Air turbo-prop aircraft to Daly Waters at around 4pm yesterday afternoon after being alerted to the man’s plight.
The CareFlight crew praised the efforts of the station owner who administered first aid and transported the young man to the Daly Waters airstrip, where he was met by a CareFlight doctor and flight nurse.
The man was flown to Royal Darwin Hospital where he arrived in a stable condition at around 6pm last night.
