A 15-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital in a stable condition after crashing from his bicycle in Sydney’s Northern Beaches this afternoon.
It’s understood the boy was initially knocked unconscious when he crashed his bike on a residential street in Avalon.
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked to help shortly before 6.00pm, navigating through poor visibility due to thick bushfire smoke before landing at Hitchcock Park near the scene.
NSW Ambulance paramedics were on scene provide initial treatment to the boy.
The helicopter’s critical care team were conveyed to the scene by Police. CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic provided further treatment to the boy for injuries to the head.
The patient was transferred to the helicopter and flown to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a stable condition.
