A 15-year-old girl was trapped by a 4WD buggy earlier this afternoon on a private property in Upper Colo when the vehicle upturned and she was pinned underneath it.

The teenager sustained crush injuries to her hips and arms.

CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance at 12:40pm and landed by the scene of the incident. CareFlight’s clinical team were the first emergency services personnel to arrive and performed an initial assessment on the patient.

Shortly after, NSW Ambulance and State Emergency Service personnel arrived to assist in the girl’s extrication. Once she was freed, CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment on the patient, including an ultrasound and administered pain relief.

The girl was airlifted to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a stable condition under ongoing observation from CareFlight’s clinical team.
