Two adults and four children were lucky to escape serious injury when their car rolled in Litchfield National Park this afternoon.

The car was traveling near the Magnetic Termite Mounds when it veered off the road and rolled. All the passengers were able to climb free of the 4WD vehicle.

A park ranger was the first on scene and rendered assistance to the family, which included parents, three boys and one girl.

The NT CareFlight Rescue Helicopter was tasked at 430pm, landing at the scene at 5.00pm.

Teams from St John Ambulance and the Batchelor medical clinic also attended and helped care for the family.

CareFlight’s doctor and nurse assessed and treated the family for a range of minor injuries, including taking precautions for potential spinal injuries.

The mother and two of the boys were airlifted to Royal Darwin Hospital, landing at 630pm.

St John Ambulance transported the three patients with the least severe injuries to Royal Darwin Hospital for further assessment.
