Three girls have been taken to hospital in a stable condition after suffering burns when the boat they were in caught fire on the Hawkesbury River this afternoon.
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked to assist by NSW Ambulance at 4.06pm and landed next to the river near the scene at 4.29pm.
NSW Police, NSW Fire and Rescue and NSW Ambulance crews were also on scene to render assistance.
Two CareFlight specialist doctors and a NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic walked from the helicopter to the scene to provide treatment to a six year old and two ten year old girls who had all suffered burns to the face and body.
One girl was flown to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and two were taken by road with NSW Ambulance and a CareFlight doctor providing ongoing care.
